JONAS MPALUKA

Biography

Jonas Mpaluka, 37, was a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) driver born in Iringa and living in Kitunda, Dar es Salaam. He had a wife and three children.

Circumstances

On 2025-10-30 at Smart Lounge (Banana) in Dar es Salaam, Jonas and fellow boda boda drivers were confronted by police officers in a Land Cruiser. Police allegedly ordered the group to go home; when the drivers refused and reportedly chanted that they did not want 'Mama Samia', officers opened fire. Two drivers died immediately and others were injured. Jonas was killed in this election-related incident (2025).
